about
Cotton Candy is an attempt at a song with the same subject as my previous work, Shatter, but with a different thesis. It leans further towards recovery than the helplessness depicted there.
Trying out a new state of mind, but I can't avoid what I left behind
For every ray of sunshine, a thousand thoughts will cross the line
Can I chip away all of my regrets? / I keep pushing on
Is this permanent? Will I ever rest? / 'Till these thoughts are gone
Can I not pretend this is who I am? Where's the harm in that?
Is this who I want to be? Second guessing everything? / No more holding back
My mind is like cotton candy
Fluffy and light, or so I tell it
When I feel down, I just repeat
I can still change, I'm more than what I credit
I want to be like cotton candy
Sweet and oh so soft
Is that too much to ask?
When I'm in pain, I'm convinced that I'll be okay
And I can take it day by-
Lounging about in a bed of clouds
But the thoughts in my head all seem so loud
With each and every step I take, I'm less convinced that I will break
What's inside of me? What else can I see? First priority
I can focus on all the little things, I'm the authority
Taking little steps, living day by day, I can break away
I'm rebuilding it, I can't ever quit, my life starts today
My mind is like cotton candy
It's fluffy and light, that's what I tell it
When I feel down, I just repeat
I can still change, I'm more than what I credit
I want to be like cotton candy
It's sweet and oh so soft
Is that too much to ask?
When I'm in pain, I'm convinced that I'll be okay
And I can take it day by day
I will never understand the inner workings of my head
I don't know why I get upset but I can't stop this just yet
My mind is like cotton candy
It's fluffy and light, that's what I tell it
When I feel down, I just repeat
I can still change, I'm more than what I credit
I want to be like cotton candy
It's sweet and oh so soft
Is that too much to ask?
When I'm in pain, I'm convinced that I'll be okay
And I can take it day by day
